Sequoia Holmes is an international professional basketball player, philanthropist, motivational speaker and advocate for girls’ and female basketball. Over the past 11 years, Sequoia has spent time with four teams in the WNBA and several teams throughout Europe. In her career professional season, she has won multiple Cups titles/ Champions in Germany and Angola. She also led her Slovakian team to the EuroCup Final 4 competition, comparable to the playoffs in the WNBA. In her down time, she channels her competitiveness and love for the game into opportunities to give back to her community through sports.
The city of Las Vegas holds a special place in Sequoia’s heart, as both a Mojave high school and UNLV graduate and basketball standout. She earned considerable recognition over her high school and collegiate careers, nabbing all-state awards, defensive player of the year honors, and more. Because of her rich athletic history in Las Vegas, Sequoia directs her philanthropic endeavors toward her hometown sports community.
Sequoia is the founder of Sequoia Select Basketball, based out of Southern Nevada. Sequoia Select is a nonprofit AAU organization that develops the basketball skills of young girls and stresses the importance of Leadership. Sequoia also hosts several camps /clinics for high school, college, and professional female basketball players. Sequoia’s future goals include developing health and fitness regimes for youth development and helping others explore the rich history of the Las Vegas culture. As Sequoia continues to touch others through her global platform and selfless spirit, it is her hope to give every young girl an opportunity to succeed through sports.
